Checkpoints to Monitor Drinking, Seat Belt Use
- Share via
Beginning in January, sheriff’s deputies in La Puente will begin conducting monthly checkpoints for drunk driving and use of safety belts.
The city, which contracts with the county for deputies’ services, was recently awarded a $91,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to begin the program.
A recent survey revealed that less than half the children younger than 4 in La Puente were in child-safety seats, as the law requires, when riding in a vehicle.
The first sobriety checkpoint will be on Jan. 6. The first seat-belt checkpoint will be on Jan. 21.
