Gunfire from someone on a bicycle wounded two boys Thursday night, a police sergeant said.

The unidentified boys were standing in front of a house in the 1400 block of South Maple Street when a gunman opened fire, striking one of the boys in the thigh and the other in the foot, said Sgt. Dick Faust. The boys did not see the assailant, whose gunfire also hit a house two doors down, Faust said.

Both boys were listed in good condition Thursday night at Coastal Communities Hospital.

“They were lucky, real lucky,” Faust said. “It could have been much worse.”

Investigators say the shooting may be gang-related. Police have no suspects and are continuing the investigation.
