No New Leads in Beating of Knott Kin, Despite Reward
Despite a $10,000 reward, police said Friday they have no new leads in the brutal beating of the 17-year-old great-granddaughter of the founder of Knott’s Berry Farm.
Desire Anderson remains in critical but stable condition at Palomar Memorial Hospital in Escondido, nearly three weeks after an intruder entered her bedroom in the San Diego County community of Fallbrook and severely beat her.
The reward, offered by members of the Knott family, “generated some calls,” according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Doug Clements.
The reward “may be a good tool,” Clements said, but to date “the most promising calls didn’t come as a result of the reward offer.”
“We’re still pursuing the leads and moving forward on the investigation,” he said.
An earlier suspect, a parolee who lives in the semi-rural area where the Nov. 28 attack took place, has been ruled out, Clements said.
Anderson is still on life-support systems, Clements said, and has not been able to aid in the investigation.
