Large, Bright Object Reported Shooting Across California Sky
- Share via
People across Southern California and as far away as Reno called news media organizations, fire stations and astronomers to report that they saw a large object shoot across the night sky Monday.
“We’ve gotten calls since about 8:30 tonight and basically we believe it was a meteor,” said Griffith Observatory guide Joel Harris. “It’s not that unusual, but since people reported seeing it from far places we think it might have been bigger than most.”
Callers from Sacramento, Riverside, Bakersfield and Reno described the shooting object as a big, bright light with a green, white or red tail.
