Alabama Coach Gene Stallings plans to alter his game day routine Monday and do a television interview. He doesn’t like to change his routine, but his appearance on “Good Morning America” with his son John Mark, 31, will give him a chance to talk about the obstacles people must overcome--obstacles he has faced with John Mark, who was born with Down’s syndrome.

“John Mark has changed and enriched my life,” Stallings said. “He has shown me compassion and, at the same time, given me less tolerance for physically gifted people who don’t appreciate what (they have).”

“Our players all know him or know of him,” Buckeye Coach John Cooper said. “They have a lot of respect for him. I appreciate him speaking to the team. He talked about the pride factor and he talked about bragging rights.”

Byars, a tailback in 1982-85, holds the Ohio State single-season rushing record of 1,764 yards.
