Hawkins gained an area-best 2,454 yards and scored 36 touchdowns in leading team to Division IX championship game.
Jared Banks, Oak Park, OL, 6-5, 235, Sr.
The Eagles rushed for more than 2,400 yards this season--most of it was behind Banks, a three-year varsity member.
Chadd Kahlsdorf, Ventura, OL, 6-5, 310, Sr.
Best of offensive line that cleared holes for the Cougars to gain 2,663 yards rushing. On coaches’ all-county team.
John Raymond, Buena, OL, 6-7, 295, Sr.
Named co-offensive linemen of the year. Plans recruiting trips to UCLA, Colorado, Colorado State and San Jose State.
Jamal Harris, Westlake, DB, 6-0, 185, Jr.
May have been the Warriors’ best defensive back, but he was more spectacular as a tailback. Gained 747 yards in 80 carries.
Erik Olson, Ventura, DB, 6-2, 190, Sr.
Had five interceptions as a defensive back, accounted for 1,402 all-purpose yards as a quarterback.
Jermaine Smith, Royal, DB, 6-0, 180, Sr.
Had one interception and nine deflections. Picked to coaches’ all-county team and the All-Marmonte League team.
J.J. Washington, Simi Valley, DB, 6-0, 170, Sr.
As reciever, had 29 catches for 573 yards; had 4 interceptions. Named co-offensive MVP in the Marmonte League.
Nate Coyle, Buena, LB, 6-2, 210, Sr.
Named defensive MVP in the Channel League. Led the Bulldogs with 82 tackles, and broke up seven passes.
Eric Guenther, Westlake, LB, 6-3, 212, Sr.
Marmonte League’s co-player of the year. Coaches named him county’s defensive lineman of the year.
Brian Kavanagh, Simi Valley, LB, 6-2, 215, Sr.
Pioneers’ best player, Marmonte League’s defensive MVP; defensive back of the year in the coaches’ poll.
Kevin Musser, Royal, LB, 6-2, 225, Sr.
Royal’s linebackers were considered strength of tough defense, and he was the leader; led team with 112 tackles.
Blane Saipaia, Channel Islands, DL, 6-3, 275, Jr.
Coach Joel Gershon says Saipaia is as good as any of the 45 Division I players he’s coached at Channel Islands.
Bryan Wilkins, Moorpark, RB, 6-0, 190, Sr.
Led Moorpark in rushing (1,621 yards) and had 25 touchdowns to go with his 2,030 combined yards.
Taj Lewis, Oxnard, QB, 5-11, 175, Sr.
A coaches’ all-county pick, Lewis ran 712 yards and 10 touchdowns and passed for 782 yards.
Scott Spruill, Westlake, QB, 6-1, 170, Sr.
After winning quarterback derby, Spruill passed for 1,804 yards and threw 18 touchdown passes.
Eric Mahanke, Newbury Park, WR, 6-3, 190, Sr.
The county’s second-leading receiver, Mahanke caught 42 passes for 722 yards and four touchdowns.
Billy Miller, Westlake, 6-4, 215, WR, Sr.
Caught a county-high 67 passes for 1,057 yards and 14 touchdowns. Offensive Back of the Year in the county coaches’ poll.
Starr Skinner, Westlake, OL, 6-3, 220, Sr.
Offensive line helped team gain nearly 400 yards a game; Skinner was not only Westlake’s best, but one of the county’s best.
Steve Zirnite, Royal, OL, 6-4, 270, Sr.
Considered the region’s top nose guard before the season, but he was better as center. Committed to sign with Fresno State.
Cliff Farrar, Nordhoff, Coach, 8th season
Program rated last in the county during the 1980s, but since 1990 his Rangers have the most victories (41) in the county.
Josh Nicassio, Oak Park, K, 5-10, 165 Jr.
His 53 points were most among county kickers; versatility helped lead team to Divison IX quarterfinals.
Sam Benner, St. Bonaventure, OL 6-5, 245, Jr.
An All-Tri-Valley League pick as a sophomore, junior. Figures to be among region’s top recruits next season.
Walter Glover, Oxnard, DL, 6-3, 260, Sr.
Dominant nose guard and offensive lineman. Led the Yellowjackets with eight sacks and 85 tackles.
