Jan. 20 Deadline for Quake Grants, Loans
The final deadline to register for disaster assistance from the Northridge earthquake is Jan. 20.
Residents have until then to apply for federal disaster housing assistance, the state-administered Individual and Family Grant Program and the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan programs for homeowners, renters and business owners.
More than 669,500 people had applied for aid as of Dec. 23, federal officials said.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has disbursed $1.14 billion in grants, the SBA has approved more than $3.71 billion in low-interest loans and the state has granted an additional $182.7 million for serious needs not met by insurance or other assistance programs.
