Irvine Woman, 59, Dies in Car Collision
An Irvine woman died early Thursday after a car crash, police said.
Mary Phillips, 59, suffered severe chest injuries when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle at Jamboree Road and Barranca Parkway shortly before 5 a.m., Lt. Mike White said.
Phillips died after being taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
The other driver, John Morrison, 43, of Tustin suffered a leg injury and was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.
Police said there were no witnesses, and investigators were trying to determine how the collision happened. They said it was unclear whether wet driving conditions were a factor.
