Furyk, Fergus Shoot 67s to Share Hawaiian Open Lead

Scott Pickler, Cypress baseball coach, was recently named the California community college coach of year by the American Baseball Coaches Assn. He was given the award last week in Chicago. Pickler helped Cypress to the State title last spring. Cypress also won the title in 1991. Cypress also established a single-season record for victories with 44 last spring. Pickler has a mark of 302-152 in 10 seasons with the Chargers.

Volleyball

U.S. national men’s volleyball team members Bryan Ivie and Dan Greenbaum will play for a USC alumni squad in a match against the 1995 Trojans, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Newport Harbor High. Tickets are $5.

Beach volleyball star Adam Johnson and former national team member Nick Becker are also scheduled to play for the alumni. All-American Jason Mulholland and former Capistrano Valley standout Eric Seiffert are two of four returning starters for USC.
