SOUTH-CENTRAL : Officers Seek Clues in Hit-and-Run Death of Girl
The California Highway Patrol has issued a call for help in tracking down the car and motorist involved in the hit-and-run death of a 10-year-old girl.
Crystal Cephus was killed about 5:30 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a speeding car as she was trying to cross Vermont Avenue just south of 93rd Street.
The vehicle neither slowed down nor stopped, continuing south on Vermont at a high rate of speed, said Chris Burch, a spokesman for the CHP’s West Los Angeles office.
The sole witness interviewed by investigators could only describe the car as brown.
“We’re trying to get the message out that maybe someone (else) out there may have seen something,” CHP Officer Pablo Torres said. “Any bit of information that we can get would be greatly appreciated.”
Anyone with information is asked to call CHP Officer Nancy White at (310) 670-0938.
