NYELAND ACRES : 2 Men Wanted After Shots Fired Into Bar

Sheriff’s deputies are searching for two men who fired several gunshots into a Nyeland Acres bar, wounding a 27-year-old Port Hueneme man who was playing pool.

The men fired the shots into P. J. Grunts at 2909 E. Ventura Blvd. about 11:50 p.m. Thursday, about 40 minutes after they had gotten into a fistfight with the manager and been ordered to leave, detectives said.

Detective Dan Thompson said the fight with the manager was prompted by the pair’s “inappropriate conduct” toward female dancers in the bar.

The victim of the shooting, George Madrid, was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center and released.

Thompson said the two men were sitting in a truck outside the bar when one of them fired the shots from a handgun. As they drove away, they fired more shots at a passing driver, he said.

The manager of the bar told deputies that the two men were not regular customers. Thompson declined to release a description of the men or the truck they were driving.
