As part of a new program designed to aggressively combat prostitution in the San Fernando Valley, a Van Nuys woman jailed for giving police a false name and violating a new mapping program was given six months more jail time on Friday after police discovered another similar offense.

Angela Lynn Andrade, 22, pleaded guilty to giving false information to a police officer Thursday, according to the city attorney’s office. Police said she falsely identified herself after being arrested in November for lewd conduct in a parked car.

Because police could find no record for “Ariel Daly”--the name she gave--she was arraigned as a first-time offender and sentenced to six days in jail or a $180 fine and given a year of probation.

Andrade was picked up the second time Dec. 5 within the mapped zone, after she got into a passing car. She again told police her name was Ariel Daly.

A fingerprint check revealed that she had seven prior prostitution convictions, the city attorney’s office said, and she was sentenced to four months in jail.

The second sentence was added after authorities discovered that she had used a phony name twice.

She was also convicted of a parole violation because she was picked up within the “mapped zone.” Under the mapping program, those convicted of prostitution in Van Nuys Court are given maps of areas where--as a condition of probation--they are forbidden to talk to, solicit or accept rides from motorists between 5 p.m. and 6 a.m.
