HOME AGAIN: Desire Anderson, great-granddaughter of the founder of Knott’s Berry Farm, is back at her Fallbrook home in northern San Diego County 10 weeks after she was nearly bludgeoned to death in her sleep. The 17-year-old was on life support for weeks, then transferred to a rehabilitation center. Who attacked her remains a mystery, police say, despite a $10,000 reward posted by the family. “Physically, she’s just fine, but she’s having trouble with speech, says great aunt Virginia Knott of Newport Beach. “We have lots of hope.”

MACK KNIFED? For the last few years, Tom Mack’s name has popped up as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But each year, the former Los Angeles Rams offensive guard (1966-78) is passed over for better known people, which the Rams consider a shame. . . . Mack, known for his durability, never missed a game due to injury. And he made the Pro Bowl 11 out of 13 years. This week, Mack became one of the 15 finalists again.

LOTTERY WINNERS: If getting in shape was your New Year’s resolution, and you want to see what the human body is supposed to look like, Elle Macpherson will be at Nordstrom’s at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa this morning to promote her new exercise video. . . . Macpherson, if you don’t keep track of the rich and famous super-models, is one of the Sports Illustrated elite, who recently starred in the movie “Sirens.” . . . . A store spokeswoman says there will be a drawing--for fairness--to get a place in line to meet her.

STILL CHRISTMAS? If you haven’t yet thrown out your Christmas cards, Anaheim Memorial Hospital says it has something even better to do with them than recycling. The hospital is sending the front of all its cards to the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder, Nev., where the youngsters make new cards from them. . . . Says spokeswoman Louri Purugganan: “We’re challenging everyone in Orange County to do the same; it’s a great way to help the environment.”
