Dee Brown wasn’t about to pass up a shot this time.

“There was no doubt in my mind about passing the ball,” Brown said after his driving layup beat the buzzer and the Sacramento Kings, 98-97, Sunday night. “This time I was going to take it straight to the hole myself.”

Friday night, the Celtics lost to Utah when, in the waning seconds of a two-point game, Brown passed to Dominique Wilkins. The ball was tipped away.

With 6.2 seconds left, Boston’s David Wesley missed a game-tying free throw, but the rebound was tipped out of bounds by Sacramento’s Spud Webb.

Brown took the inbounds pass and drove to the basket before scoring his only points of the second half.

Dallas 108, San Antonio 103--Jimmy Jackson’s three-point play with 16.8 seconds left broke a tie at San Antonio.

After David Robinson’s dunk for the Spurs tied the score at 103, Jackson, who finished with 37 points, made a 15-foot jumper and foul shot.

Seattle 131, Portland 124--Gary Payton scored 29 points and the SuperSonics held off a late rally at Tacoma.

Three Trail Blazers scored 30 or more points, but it wasn’t enough as Portland lost its sixth in a row to Seattle. Rod Strickland had a career-high 32 points, and Cliff Robinson and Clyde Drexler added 30 points each.
