Quake Theme Resonates at Home Show

While the 19th annual Home Remodeling and Decorating Show at Cal State Northridge featured the usual assortment of booths on what’s new in drapery and how to install hardwood floors, a timely twist to displays provided information and products related to earthquake repairs and preparedness.

Last year’s show at CSUN was canceled because of the earthquake.

At one stand, Gas Co. representatives demonstrated how to shut off a gas valve after an earthquake.

Nearby, Leon Miller touted Quake Hold!, a rubber adhesive that can be attached to the bottom of glasses, china and collectibles to prevent sliding during a quake. “All you do is press down and twist,” he said, rolling the rubber material into a ball and sticking it to the bottom of a cup.
