Trevino Agrees to Play in O.C. Senior Event

Lee Trevino, who has amassed some $8.5 million in earnings on the PGA tours, has committed to play in the Toshiba Senior Classic March 17-19 at Mesa Verde Country Club, Orange County Sports Assn. Executive Director Don Andersen said Monday.

Trevino, 55, had 27 PGA Tour victories from 1968-84 and 23 Senior PGA Tour victories from 1990-94, including five last year before suffering a season-ending neck injury.

Andersen, whose group is organizing and promoting the event, said the tournament also has received commitments from Dave Stockton, leading money winner on the 1994 Senior Tour, and Chi Chi Rodriguez, and he’s expecting a commitment from Ray Floyd, No. 2 money winner on the Senior Tour last year.
