The Utah Jazz got 71 points from reserves and got to use them liberally Wednesday night at Salt Lake City.

The Jazz broke a first-quarter tie with a 16-0 run and emptied the bench early in a 130-88 victory over the exhausted Sacramento Kings.

It was the 10th consecutive victory for Utah, which tied a franchise record, and it was achieved with the help of Karl Malone’s 25 points and John Stockton’s 16 points and eight assists.

David Benoit led four Utah reserves in double figures with 16 points.

“Everybody contributed. But everybody should have contributed because this team (Sacramento) was tired,” Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan said.

Sacramento defeated Dallas, 110-109, in double overtime Tuesday.

Milwaukee 98, Philadelphia 97--Todd Day’s three-point basket with 2.6 seconds to play gave the Bucks a victory at Philadelphia.

Willie Burton (33 points), however, connected on a franchise-record eight three-point baskets, including three in the game’s final 4:05, to help Philadelphia pull ahead for the last time. But he missed three of four free throws in the final 16 seconds, including two with 1.2 seconds to play that would have won the game.

“The way Burton was going, we would rather have him shoot fouls than threes, “ Milwaukee Coach Mike Dunleavy said.

Atlanta 103, Charlotte 96--The Hawks used ball movement to open up their offense and got 22 points from Ken Norman at Charlotte, where they sent the Hornets to their third defeat in a row.

Alonzo Mourning had 36 points and Larry Johnson had 26 for Charlotte.

The Hawks outrebounded the Hornets, 50-32, including a 15-6 margin on the offensive boards.
