Grgurich Cautiously Returning as UNLV Coach
Nevada Las Vegas basketball Coach Tim Grgurich returned to the team Wednesday after missing 18 days because of health problems, but is taking a wait-and-see approach before resuming full-time duties.
Grgurich checked into a California hospital more than two weeks ago for treatment of symptoms related to exhaustion. He said at a news conference last week that doctors suggested he take six weeks off and rest.
Grgurich said he will see how he feels and will consult with his doctors and his assistant coaches, and if they tell him to back off, he will.
The coach met with team members for 20 minutes Tuesday night, and said he felt embarrassed that he hadn’t been there for them.
He took over the Rebel program in November when the university bought out the contract of former coach Rollie Massimino.
The Rebels play host to Pacific tonight.
