The St. Louis Rams Still a Hot Topic

Somehow the name St. Louis Rams sounds all wrong. It has the anomalous ring of St. Louis Yankees or St. Louis Pistons.

To rectify this error, the team should do away with the horned logo and paint whiskers on their helmets. The franchise could then be renamed, more fittingly, the Missouri Catfish.

I can just see it now. Carroll Rosenbloom’s grieving widow and her “Man Friday” John Shaw will be sitting in their owner’s boxes at the new stadium in St. Louis. Halfway through a losing 1995 season, this dynamic duo looks out over the crowd. At this point, a group of fans unfurls a banner that reads:

“Georgia, Please Sell The Team.”

In the interest of goodwill and friendship, every person who ever attended or thought of attending a Rams game should send a monetary donation to the fans in St. Louis so that they are able to purchase all 40,000 personal seat licenses by March 7. It wouldn’t be fair to the St. Louis fans if they were to lose the team.

So Georgia feels that she has to have a new, modern football-only stadium for her team to be successful. It seems to me that our two Super Bowl teams from the north and south of us both play in fairly old baseball stadiums. The reason that the 49ers and Chargers are so strongly supported is that they put a good product on the field.
