One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting that erupted early Saturday when a driver opened fire after arguing with the victims over cars blocking the exit of a parking garage, authorities said.

Henry Antonio Romero, 22, of Northridge was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 1 a.m. in the 20400 block of Cohasset Street, Lt. George Rock of the Police Department said.

Armando Barrera Reyes, 22, of Sylmar was shot in the left arm and shoulder, Rock said. Reyes was taken to Northridge Medical Hospital Center, where he was treated and released, police said.

The gunman, who drove a dark blue 1982 to 1984 Oldsmobile sedan, was described as a male about 28 to 30 years old, Rock said.

The victims were standing outside the back entrance to the two-story Saticoy Street apartment drinking beer and talking when they began arguing with the motorist, who was trying to leave the complex, building manager Opie Marriquez said.

Soon after the argument, the gunman opened fire with a small-caliber handgun, police said.

None of the victims lived in the apartment building, Rock said.

“They were all together, sitting and talking in the back of the building,” Rock said. “Just hanging out there.”

Rock said the mother of one of the victims lives in the building, and that he and his friends had come to visit.

“We are investigating the possibility that he (the suspect) lives or was visiting someone at that complex,” Rock said.
