SUPER BOWL XXIX SPOTLIGHT : MOVERS AND SHAKEN

The stadium bears the name of the father. It was Joe Robbie who put together the deal to build the facility where Super Bowl XXIX was held Sunday.

The game bears the imprint of the son. In 1991, Tim Robbie, as Miami Dolphin team president, put together the successful bid to get the game.

The senior Robbie has since died. And the junior Robbie had nothing to do with the staging of Sunday’s game. He watched from his private box.

After Joe Robbie and his wife died, there was a bitter struggle among the seven children for control of the family fortune. The economic strain of legal bills and estate taxes forced the Robbies to sell. Tim currently is unemployed.
