HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Highland’s 15th Victory a Record

Jon Burrell scored a season-high 31 points as Highland recorded a school-record 15th victory by defeating Apple Valley, 72-57, in a nonleague game Wednesday night at Highland.
Jamal Dedaux added 18 points and eight steals for Highland (15-6). Highland trailed, 50-49, early in the fourth quarter but used a 20-0 run to put away Apple Valley (9-13).
Harvard-Westlake 63, Loyola 42--The Wolverines (21-2, 9-1) rebounded from an upset loss to last-place Crespi on Saturday in a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake.
Harvard trailed, 12-10, after one quarter, but outscored the Cubs (12-8, 4-5) by a 31-14 margin over the next two quarters.
Westlake 96, Newbury Park 61--Steve Aylsworth scored 23 points and the Warriors (16-3, 9-2) made 18 of 24 first-half shots in a Marmonte League game at Westlake.
Agoura 54, Thousand Oaks 45--Maurice Moore had 15 points for the Chargers (12-8, 9-2) in a Marmonte game at Agoura. Mike Lauer had 14 points for Thousand Oaks (11-12, 5-6).
Simi Valley 68, Camarillo 66--Scott Blough tied the score on two free throws with four seconds left, then made a layup to give the Pioneers (17-4, 7-4) a Marmonte victory over the Scorpions (6-12, 3-8).
La Canada 46, Temple City 45--Chris Evelyn had 19 points and Charlie Petit added 13 for the Spartans (15-7, 7-0), who moved two games ahead of second-place Temple City (14-8, 5-2) in the Rio Hondo League.
Buena 71, Hueneme 60--Ceneka Shaw had 22 points and 20 rebounds for the Bulldogs (14-7, 8-3) in a Channel League game. George Jones had 27 points for Hueneme (7-14, 3-8).
El Camino Real 51, Birmingham 47--Jermel Jones scored 23 points for the Conquistadores (5-11, 1-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference game. Scott James had 17 for Birmingham (11-8, 5-2).
Kennedy 59, Cleveland 44--Nakia Gordon scored 18 points for the Golden Cougars (12-5, 4-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
James Brignac scored 12 points for Cleveland (5-13, 3-2).
Canoga Park 79, Poly 66--Ryan Sylva led Canoga Park (8-10, 4-3) with 28 points and 13 rebounds in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Canoga Park.
Monroe 75, Reseda 46--Tim Johnson scored 25 points and Shaka Stiner added 12 for Monroe (14-5, 5-2) in a Valley Pac-8 game at Reseda.
Peter Arceneaux and Bernard Martinez each scored 10 points for Reseda (5-16, 1-6).
Chatsworth 74, Taft 49--Eddie Miller had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Chatsworth (16-4, 7-0) in a Northwest Valley game at Taft.
Adam Davenport led Taft (8-10, 2-5) with 16 points.
Royal 69, Channel Islands 44--Guard Marques Pena scored 17 points and had seven assists for the Highlanders (15-5, 9-2) in a Marmonte League game.
Charles Merricks led Channel Islands (7-14, 1-10) with 14 points.
Oak Park 83, St. Bonaventure 57--Shawn Williams scored 20 points for Oak Park in a Tri-Valley League game at Oak Park.
Santa Barbara 78, Ventura 72--Charles Dixon scored 30 points and had 10 rebounds for Ventura (4-16, 2-9).
GIRLS
North Hollywood 52, Monroe 37--Mary Giles scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Huskies (16-2, 7-0) to their 24th consecutive Valley Pac-8 victory.
Shirley Sotero-Higa scored 15 points for Monroe (11-5, 5-2).
Chatsworth 56, Birmingham 45--Jodi Borenstein scored 15 points for Chatsworth (14-6, 5-2) in a Northwest Valley game at Chatsworth.
Kennedy 71, Granada Hills 33--Tamaya Morris had 23 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Golden Cougars in a Northwest Valley game at Granada Hills.
Tami Ross added 18 points and 12 rebounds for Kennedy (15-6, 6-1).
Sylmar 66, Van Nuys 51--Sonia Ramirez scored 16 points for the Spartans (10-2, 6-1) in a Valley Pac-8 game at Sylmar.
Lynde Berry had 21 for Van Nuys (5-11, 2-5).
