COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fraser, Kotsay Home Runs Help Cal State Fullerton Beat Arizona

Cal State Fullerton’s Joe Fraser and Mark Kotsay hit home runs Thursday in the Titans’ 10-2 victory over Arizona at Sancet Field in Tucson.

Titan starter Jon Ward (1-0) gave up five hits over seven innings.

Fullerton’s D.C. Olsen had three hits, including two doubles. Fraser hit his second home run of the season in the fourth inning and Kotsay blasted his first in the fifth for Fullerton (5-1).

The Titans face Arizona (4-5) again this afternoon in the second of a three-game series that concludes Sunday.

In another nonconference game:

Concordia 4, Chapman 2--James Maddock gave up three hits and no earned runs over eight innings for visiting Concordia (1-3). Benjamin Kindreich had three hits and two runs batted in for the Eagles.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Chapman 108, American Indian College 81--Toby Curto had 27 points and Stefan Mumaw had 22 for Chapman (14-7), which outscored American Indian, 59-45, in the second half.

In nonconference softball:

Long Beach State 0-7, Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-0--Amy Miner pitched a three-hitter and Jessie Martinez hit a three-run triple in the first inning of the second game for host Long Beach.

Southern California College 2-4, Cal State San Bernardino 0-1--Catcher Amy Lewis went five for six with three RBIs on the day for Southern California College (2-2). Shannon Saylor allowed four hits and had five strikeouts in the first game and Gretchen Brandt allowed four hits with four strikeouts in the second game.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s tennis:

Southern California College 8, Azusa Pacific 1--Mattias Johansson and Davey Robbins won individual matches and teamed up for a doubles victory for Southern California College, which beat Azusa Pacific for the first time.
