Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Man, 52, Dies After Vehicle Overturns
A 52-year-old Valencia man died Tuesday morning when his four-wheel-drive vehicle overturned on the rain-slicked San Diego Freeway, throwing him from the vehicle, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed by authorities pending notification of family members, was driving north on the freeway near San Fernando Mission Boulevard about 5:30 a.m. when the accident occurred, CHP Officer Wendy Moore said. She said he lost control of the vehicle and drifted onto the right shoulder.
“He turned sideways and overturned,” she said. “He was ejected from the vehicle because he was not wearing a seat belt.”
The cause of the collision is still being investigated, but “he probably lost control in the rain,” Moore said.
The man was pronounced dead at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, said Scott Carrier of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
