Crenshaw 72, North Hollywood 65--Arthur Lee III finally showed up at Crenshaw High--but wearing a North Hollywood jersey.

Lee, a six-foot point guard who twice wanted to transfer to Crenshaw, scored 31 points. But it was not enough as the Huskies were eliminated in the first round of the City 4-A playoffs for the third consecutive season.

Crenshaw guard Robert Parker played one of his best games, scoring 14 points including 10 in the fourth quarter.

Lee scored 18 of his team’s 20 fourth-quarter points as North Hollywood came back from a 15-point third quarter deficit to tie the score at 56-56.

Parker, however, made two free throws as the Cougars took the lead for good, 58-56.

The Cougars played most of the game without starters Raymond Palmer and Ronnie Arch, who were benched for missing practice.

“I’ve been waiting three years to play in this gym,” said Lee, who attended John Muir Junior High in South-Central Los Angeles. “I thought about transferring to Crenshaw after my sophomore and junior seasons, but I just decided to stay.”

While the Cougars attempted to win their third consecutive City title, Lee can only think about his future at Stanford, where he received a basketball scholarship.

Grant 58, Locke 55--Ronald Patterson hit a three-point shot from 52-feet to give Grant a first-round City 4-A playoff victory.

Patterson had a game-high 29 points, including eight three-point shots.

Eric Boyette had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Saints.

The game was dedicated to former Grant standout Chi Cheng, who died in a car accident last Tuesday.
