SOUTHERN SECTION GIRLS’ SOCCER ROUNDUP : Second-Seeded Ocean View Knocked Out in First Round

Shannon Donnelly scored with five minutes to play to lead Long Beach Poly to a 1-0, upset victory of No. 2-seeded Ocean View in the first round of the Southern Section Division II girls’ soccer playoffs Saturday at Ocean View.
Kim Engesser had Ocean View’s best chance on a breakaway in the first half but was overtaken from behind. Ocean View (19-2-2) never threatened again.
Engesser finished her career with 101 goals; she had 39 goals and 18 assists this season.
Poly is 15-4-4.
In other Division II games:
Canyon 2, Ontario 0--A.J. Kula and Terri Hymes scored first-half goals for host Canyon (13-2-4), which will play Laguna Hills in the second round.
Laguna Hills 4, Sunny Hills 0--Tiffany Boykin, Jenny Jurgemeyer, Ashley Olivieri and Stacy Roberts scored for host Laguna Hills (13-7-3).
El Modena 3, St. Joseph’s 1--Nicole Terry scored twice in the final two minutes to send El Modena (19-5-1) into a match with Sonora.
Sonora 2, Pacifica 1--Harmony McDaniel scored the game-winning goal in the second half for visiting Sonora (12-8-4). Jenny Treadway also scored for the Raiders. Susan Edwards scored for Pacifica (12-3).
Foothill 3, Long Beach Wilson 0--Nicole Krysinski scored early in the second half, and Maura Logan followed with two goals for Foothill (11-8-3), which will meet South Pasadena.
In Division III:
Brea Olinda 3, Los Altos 1--Kelly Peterson and Erin Wright scored second-half goals as Brea Olinda (17-2-5) broke a 1-1 halftime tie. The Wildcats will face Whittier La Serna, which defeated Kennedy, 4-0.
El Dorado 4, Valencia 1--Four players scored for El Dorado (9-3-9), which will meet Chino Hills Ayala.
