COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Oxnard Wins on Double-Barreled Attack, 9-7

Matt Anderson doubled twice and drove in four runs to lead Oxnard to a 9-7 victory over Pasadena in a nonconference baseball game played Wednesday at Pasadena.

Oxnard (10-3) collected 11 hits, including two each by Adam Basua, Chuck Harrington and Art Bolen.

Right-hander Ray Clinton (2-0) pitched the first five innings for Oxnard.

The Master’s 8, San Bernardino 3--Mark Vail had two hits and drove in three runs for the Mustangs (7-3) in a nonconference game at Master’s.

Matt Huter had two hits, including a triple, and scored three times for Master’s.

Ventura 8, Cal Lutheran (JV) 3--Jeff Hiserodt had three hits and drove in three runs as the Pirates (4-3-1) collected a season-high 13 hits in a nonconference victory at Ventura.

SOFTBALL

Canyons 5, Antelope Valley 1--Tricia Beer homered for the Cougars (4-3) in a nonconference game at Canyons. The Cougars had 12 hits against two Antelope Valley pitchers.

El Camino 4, Moorpark 2--The Raiders were held to one hit in a nonconference loss at El Camino.

The Warriors scored twice in the first inning and added two unearned runs in the second for a 4-0 lead.

Vicki Vasquez doubled in the fifth for Moorpark (0-3).

San Bernardino 6, Pierce 4--Kim O’Leary went three for four, drove in a run and stole two bases for the Brahmas in a nonleague setback at Pierce.

Valley 2, Irvine Valley 1--Arlene Lozano singled home Sylvia Landaverde in the bottom of the seventh to give the Monarchs (4-1) a nonconference victory.

Landaverde walked to lead off the seventh. She stole second and third to set up Lozano’s game-winning hit.

Jennifer Moulden (3-0) struck out eight.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Cal Lutheran 7, Whittier 2--The Regals won a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Cal Lutheran (3-2, 1-0) despite playing without their No. 1 player. The Poets are 0-4, 0-1.
