Shaquille O’Neal, the league’s leading scorer, was ejected after shoving Boston’s Eric Montross in the first quarter, but led by Nick Anderson and Anfernee Hardaway the Orlando Magic still had enough to defeat the Celtics, 129-103, Friday night at Orlando.

Anderson and Hardaway each scored 27 points as the Magic overcame O’Neal’s ejection to avenge a 119-117 loss to Boston Thursday night.

The Magic’s Donald Royal made a 17-foot jumper, and Montross appeared to push off as the ball passed through the basket. O’Neal took a few steps toward Montross and retaliated with a hard shove.

O’Neal lost his balance and wound up on the floor, while Montross walked away smiling. The officials assessed a flagrant foul and ejected O’Neal.

The ejection with 7:25 remaining in the opening period left the Magic--already playing without Horace Grant and Brian Shaw--with only nine players in uniform and Tree Rollins, 39, as the club’s only true center.

Miami 91, Chicago 83--Glen Rice scored six of his 24 points during a 12-4 run in the final four minutes to lift the Heat over the Bulls at Miami.

It was Miami’s first home victory against Chicago since March 11, 1993. The Heat is 2-10 against Chicago at Miami Arena.
