Titans Are No. 1 in Baseball Polls

Cal State Fullerton is ranked as college baseball's No. 1 team in both polls after winning the Anaheim Hilton & Towers Classic Sunday at Titan Field.

The Titans (14-2) moved into the top spot in the rankings in Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America after defeating Pepperdine, Notre Dame and Texas in the tournament. Collegiate Baseball's top 10 includes Louisiana State (6-1) in second, followed by Florida State, Miami, Texas, Clemson, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Oklahoma State and Mississippi State.

Baseball America has Miami (11-2) ranked second, followed by Florida State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, USC, Clemson, Wichita State and LSU.

Fullerton defeated Texas, 14-6, Sunday and meets the Longhorns in a three-game series beginning Friday in Austin. The two Titan losses are to Stanford and Fresno State, each in a three-game series. Both teams are ranked among the top 20.

Titan first baseman D.C. Olsen was named national player of the week by Collegiate Baseball. He had four home runs in the weekend tournament.
