Brea is no movie star.

But the city has made several small appearances on the silver screen. It was discovered in the 1920s when the movie “The House with the Golden Windows” was filmed on the Graham-Loftus oil field.

In the 1930s, Brea appeared in “Black Gold,” starring William Boyd as an oilman who rescues a fellow worker in a rig fire. The scene was filmed at the northwest corner of what is now Brea Boulevard and Lambert Road.

In 1945, a portion of Brea Boulevard between Lambert Road and Central Avenue was the backdrop for a scene from the original version of “The Postman Always Rings Twice.”
