COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Saddleback Beats Golden West in 10 Innings, 7-6

Lorne Rosas scored in the 10th inning after an error by Golden West to give Saddleback a 7-6 victory in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday at Saddleback.

Catcher Sam Voita hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Saddleback (10-10, 3-5). Golden West is 9-14, 3-5.

In another Orange Empire Conference baseball game:

Cypress 5, Fullerton 4--Cypress rallied in the bottom of the sixth when shortstop Augie Ojeda drove in Keith Ginter with a two-out single. The Hornets took 3-0 lead in the first inning on catcher Matt Simpson’s three-run double.

Josh Negro picked up the victory in relief, pitching three shutout innings for Cypress (10-3-1, 7-1). Mario Opipari earned his second save for the Chargers.

Simpson drove in all four runs for Fullerton (18-6, 3-5), including a home run in the third.

In Orange Empire women’s tennis:

Orange Coast 9, Irvine Valley 0--Suzan Yildiz defeated Nicole Abusaid at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-4, to lead Orange Coast (6-1, 6-1).
