SANTA ANA — Police were investigating an apparent gang-related shooting Sunday night in the parking lot of a grocery store at 315 E. First St. that left one man in critical condition. He is expected to live.
The shooting victim, whose identity and age were not immediately available, was hit by gunfire three to five times in the torso, back and side, Santa Ana Police Sgt. William Hill said. He was transported to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Police received reports of the occupants of cars shooting at each other, and other reports of shooting suspects on foot, Hill said. However, there was no indication the shooting victim was armed, Hill said.
