A 33-year-old La Verne man has been arrested for arson in connection with a January house fire that injured two firefighters, Burbank Fire Department officials said Wednesday.

Gus Lazarri is suspected of using gasoline to set fire to his ex-wife’s home in the 900 block of Buena Vista Street on Jan. 27. The daytime fire reportedly caused about $40,000 in damage, Fire Capt. Robert Reinhardt said.

One firefighter suffered second-degree burns on his face, and another suffered third-degree burns to his foot. The second firefighter has undergone several skin grafts and has not yet been able to return to work, Reinhardt said.
