VENTURA : Transient Injured in Hit-and-Run
A Ventura man was in serious condition at Ventura County Medical Center on Tuesday after a hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of West Harrison Avenue.
Police say Ramon Ramirez Zaragoza, 41, was walking down the center of West Harrison when he was hit head-on by a sedan about 7:15 p.m. Monday.
Police already were headed to the area because Zaragoza reportedly had been asked to leave a market at the corner of Olive Street and West Harrison after causing a disturbance.
Cpl. John Turner said Zaragoza’s preliminary blood alcohol level was more than 0.20.
A person is considered too drunk to drive when it is above 0.08.
Turner also said the area where the accident occurred was not well-lit, and the driver may have had trouble seeing Zaragoza in the dark.
Anyone with information about the case can call Turner at 339-4435.
