Foothill lived on the edge the whole day, needing two runs in the seventh to beat Santa Monica Crossroads, 3-2, then beating Lompoc, 2-0, in the quarterfinals. Foothill was down to its last strike against Crossroads, but took advantage of two errors and got a two-run single from Michelle Churnock to pull it out. Robin Tessman and Dawn Davidson each drove in runs with singles to pace the Knights against Lompoc. Lompoc ran itself out of a rally in the first inning, then left two runners on base in the sixth and seventh innings.

Marina (10-4), ranked fourth in Orange County, advanced to the semifinals by beating Santa Maria, 4-0, and Live Oak, 2-0.

Lynette Velazquez went two for three with a home run and four runs batted in in the victory over Santa Maria. Marcy Crouch tripled and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and pitched a three-hitter and struck out seven in the quarterfinal against Live Oak.

Sonora (9-9-1) beat Santa Maria St. Joseph, 2-1, in the first round, but lost to Bullard, 10-0.

Georgie Wisen drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the ninth against St. Joseph after pitcher Miranda Padron had retired the first 26 batters she faced. The Raiders took advantage of the international tiebreaker rule to score single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Wisen gave only two hits in the game.
