Two bank robbery suspects were arrested Tuesday after a man followed the pair in his car and called authorities on his cellular phone, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Hosea Hamilton, 22, and a 15-year-old boy were booked on suspicion of armed robbery after their arrests in the 200 block of Avenue 50 in the Mt. Washington area, according to sheriff’s spokesman Matt Rodriguez.

The pair allegedly robbed a Great Western Bank branch at 16520 Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita about 10 a.m., Rodriguez said. He did not say how much money was taken.

“The suspects fled . . . and drove southbound on the Golden State Freeway,” Rodriguez said. “The good Samaritan followed them and reported the crime on his cellular telephone.”

A sheriff’s helicopter crew spotted the getaway car and deputies and Los Angeles police officers arrested the two men after a brief chase.

Officers recovered the stolen money and a handgun that was believed used in the crime, Rodriguez said.
