PREP TRACK AND FIELD ROUNDUP

In another Golden West League boys’ meet:

Saddleback 80, Westminster 56--Franco Lopez picked up victories in the 110 hurdles (15.4) and 300 hurdles (43.5) and Andrew Portillo won the long jump (20-9) and triple jump (41-9) for Saddleback (4-2, 2-2).

In the Empire League:

Katella 72, Century 64--The meet came down to the 1,600 relay, with Katella (7-1, 4-0) winning in 3:38.8. The relay team was made up of Zack Sterling, Eric Miramontes, Willie Demyers and Brandon Vessels. Vessels also won the 200 meters (23.6), the 400 (53.5) and ran on the 400 relay.

In the Orange League:

Valencia 73, Savanna 56--David Shumway won three events for Valencia. Shumway took first in the 120-yard hurdles (16.4), the long jump (20-1) and pole vault (10-0.)

In the Sea View League:

Santa Margarita 75, Newport Harbor 61--Shahram DeZahd won the 800 meters in 2:04.7 and 1,600 in 4:34.6 for Newport Harbor (1-5).

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 80, Dana Hills 50--Adalberto Sanchez won the 800 meters (2:01.0), 1,600 (4:35.3) and 3,200 (10:10.0) for Capistrano Valley (5-1, 3-1). Teammate Bryan Harrison won the 100 (10.6) and 200 (4:35.3).

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 75, Los Alamitos 61--Sophomore Travis Vandrovec won the pole vault in 13-9 for host Fountain Valley (2-2). Cory Johnson won the high jump (6-8) and long jump (20-6) for Los Alamitos.

In Empire League girls’ track:

Loara 72, Cypress 54--Kim Lies won the 200 (27.7) and 400 (1:03.3) and Ellen Hsu won the long jump (14-10) and triple jump (32-2 3/4) for host Loara (6-1, 3-1).

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 68, Sunny Hills 59--Natalie Davis won the 100 and 220 for La Habra. Davis finished the 100 in 12.0 and the 220 in 28.2.

In the Golden West League:

Saddleback 79, Westminster 42--Gabby Martinez won the 200 (27.5), 400 (1:03.0), 800 (2:29.0) and 1,600 (5:35.0) for Saddleback (6-0, 4-0).

Ocean View 66, Tustin 51--Taryn Lawson won the 800 (2:32) and 3,200 (12:30) and Kim Engesser the 200 (27.9) for Ocean View (3-2, 2-2).

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 74, Irvine 53--Nicole Albano won the 200 in 27.4 and the long jump in 15-10 for Corona del Mar.

Newport Harbor 72, Santa Margarita 55--Mandy Clayton won the triple jump in 35-1 3/4 for Newport Harbor.

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 69, Capistrano Valley 58--Ashley Vigoren won the 100 (13.1) and 200 (28.2) and Laura Kroninger won the 1,600 in 5:30.0 and 3,200 in 11:54.0 for Dana Hills (2-4, 1-3).

Trabuco Hills 90, San Clemente 40--Darnesha Griffith won the high jump (5-3), long jump (16-9), and triple jump (33-9) to lead Trabuco Hills (3-1).

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 90, Los Alamitos 45--Angie Winkler won the 800 (2:31.4), 1,600 (5:28.0) and 3,200 (11:38.0) for host Fountain Valley (2-2).
