DOWNTOWN : Man Jumps to His Death After Traffic Accident
One of three men in a car involved in an accident on the Hollywood Freeway near Downtown overnight ran from the scene, jumped over a low wall and fell 20 feet to his death, police said Friday.
The man’s body was found at Fremont Avenue and 1st Street about midnight, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Luis Trujillo of the Central Station. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
It was unclear if the man was the driver or a passenger in the car, which apparently collided with another on the nearby freeway about 10 last night, Trujillo said.
“It was not a major injury accident,” Trujillo said. “The three occupants of the car got out and were seen running away.”
The body was discovered about two hours later. The dead man fit the description of one of the occupants of the car who was seen running in the direction of where the body was found, Trujillo said.
