Share

A Simi Valley man was killed Tuesday at a Simi Valley construction supply yard when a dump truck driving by him caught a long pole the man was using to finish concrete and dragged him beneath the truck’s wheels, police said.

Dominick Cassella, 67, was working at Simi Pacific Builders Supply, 609 Los Angeles Ave., shortly before 1 p.m. when the three-axle dump truck drove slowly by him, said Simi Valley Police Sgt. Mike King.

Cassella was using a concrete finishing tool that was attached to a 16-foot pole that snagged the passing truck, and the leverage tossed him beneath the truck’s rear wheels, King said. Cassella was killed instantly.
