Twins Mike and Bob Bryan of Camarillo saw their streak of consecutive game victories end at 116 Friday, but advanced to the final of the boys’ interscholastic doubles division of the 96th Ojai Valley tennis championships.

The Bryans had not lost a game in three years of doubles play at Ojai until the second set of their quarterfinal match against Steve Seybold and Aaron Talarico of Laguna Beach High.

When they finally lost in the third game of the second set, a large crowd at The Thacher School gave them a 30-second ovation.

Coming off the court after a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Seybold and Talarico, Bob Bryan said to them, “Thanks for breaking the streak.”

Intact are the Bryans’ streaks of 11 matches, 22 sets and three Ojai tournaments without a defeat.

“We needed to end that streak,” Bob said later. “You don’t want that kind of pressure on you when you get to the final.”

Later, the Bryans defeated J.R. Chidley and Brett Masi of Riverside Poly, 6-1, 6-1, to reach today’s 11 a.m. championship match against A.J. DeLeon and Scott Lippit of Torrey Pines.
