What are friends for? If you don’t already have the answer, Big Bird and the gang have lessons to share in Sesame Street Live’s “Let’s Be Friends,” a stage show touring the Southland.

Zoe and Elmo strike up a friendship club in this production, which includes Sesame Street, the club house, a big top circus and “South of the Border” with a new character, Rosita.

The show opens tonight at Long Beach Arena, 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach. It will play through Sunday, then travel to the Pond in Anaheim, May 18-21; Pasadena Civic Auditorium, May 25-28, and L.A. Sports Arena, June 1-4.

Show times at each venue are: Thursdays, 7 p.m.; Fridays, 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 10:30 a.m, 2 and 5:30 p.m.; Sundays, 1 and 4:30 p.m. Tickets $10, $12.50 (children 10 and younger $1.50 off) and $17 premium seats through Ticketmaster, (213) 480-3232.
