SILVER LAKE : Motel Owners Face Charges Over Fire Hazards, Roaches
- Share via
Owners of the Silverlake Motel were charged with 28 criminal counts Thursday for allegedly failing to correct fire hazards and allowing cockroaches to run rampant at the 66-unit building.
Named in the Los Angeles Municipal Court complaint were David Sanford, Kurt Kemper, Milton Roca and their Nevada-based company, Wolfriver Holding Corp. They are scheduled for arraignment June 15.
Deputy City Atty. Del San Juan said sweeps were conducted Oct. 26 and Dec. 8 at the three-story building on Silver Lake Boulevard. Inspectors found unsafe window security bars, missing smoke detectors and a leaky roof, San Juan said.
Inspectors also found a faulty electrical system, he said, and a defective fire hose, vermin infestation and bad plumbing.
