Crisis Drill to Force Road Closures
An emergency drill planned by Air Force Plant 42 will close portions of the Sierra Highway and Avenue N in Palmdale on Monday morning.
The purpose of the exercise is to test local security, fire and hazardous material response teams, said Barbara La Fata, spokesperson for the city of Palmdale.
The exercise is intended to simulate response to a mass accident.
Palmdale’s traffic division is preparing road detours for Sierra Highway between Avenue P and Avenue M, and for Avenue N between 10th Street West and Sierra Highway. Roads will be closed at 9 a.m. and are expected to reopen by noon.
