Yes, He Won the Fight, but De La Hoya Seems to Have Lost the Fans
I’ve always been a great fan of Oscar De La Hoya, ever since he won his gold medal at the Olympics. From the start, he has been very humble and simple in his ways.
Lately, however, I noticed he has changed a lot. Winning his many bouts and the money that went with it has gone to his head. In his interview before his last fight, I saw that he turned out to be a braggart and I was terribly disgusted. When he disparaged Rafael Ruelas for not playing golf, that was downright insulting.
I can’t bear to see such a nice kid blowing up with his super ego. He may deserve all the accolades of a great fighter, he may earn all the money he can win, but he does not deserve any more respect from me.

Oscar De La Hoya’s two-round demolition of Rafael Ruelas certainly looked great, but let’s not get carried away and call him a great fighter. Ruelas is a good fighter at best, and De La Hoya has to do much more than knock him out to attain the sugar status of a Ray Leonard.
