The Mini Stock main event at Saugus Speedway was interrupted twice by yellow flags, and both times Robert Hynes ended up on the short end.
During a caution flag, Terry Limberopoulos of Bellflower took advantage of Hynes getting caught in congestion on Lap 19.
Limberopoulos went on to win the event.
“Terry happened to weasel in on the outside,” Hynes said. “I went inside and he went high. He’s a crafty driver.”
The race ended on a caution flag and Hynes narrowly missed an opportunity to catch Limberopoulos.
Limberopoulos slowed to avoid a five-car pile-up in the final turn.
Hynes tried an aggressive move going inside but Mike Willette blocked his path.
Sleepy Tripp ended a two-year drought when he posted a victory in the USAC Midget 30-lap main event.
In the USAC Three-Quarter Midget main event, J.J. Erce overtook the leaders on Lap 2 and led the rest of the way for the checkered flag.
