NCAA BASEBALL : Fresno State Named Regional Site

Share

College baseball in the West regained a measure of respect on Monday when Fresno State was named one of eight regional sites for the 48-team NCAA tournament that begins May 25.

Last year, for the first time since the regional format began in 1975, none of the six-team double-elimination regionals were held in the West.

Fresno State, the winner of the Western Athletic Conference’s West Division title, annually is among the national leaders in attendance. The school was one of 18 that submitted bids, among them Stanford and Long Beach State.
