OXNARD : CHP to Establish Sobriety Checkpoint

Share

The California Highway Patrol, as part of its effort to stem drunken driving during holiday weekends, will establish a sobriety checkpoint in the Oxnard area between 11 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.

Through the weekend, the CHP plans to roll out 75% of its officers to deal with the expected heavy traffic, CHP Officer Curt Rhyne said.

“The site we’ve selected has a tremendous amount of high drunk-driving activity,” Rhyne said. “It’d be nice to say we won’t make any arrests, but I don’t expect that to happen.”

Rhyne said the precise location of the checkpoint would be announced about two hours before it is set up.
