COLLEGE BASEBALL : Stanford Faces Texas Tech Today for Berth

Stanford will play Texas Tech today for the championship of the NCAA Midwest I Regional and a spot in the College World Series after winning twice on Monday at Wichita, Kan.

Stanford eliminated Lamar, 16-9, and then handed Texas Tech its first loss, 3-2, by scoring with two out in the bottom of the ninth.

Against Lamar, Stanford’s Steve Carver had four runs batted in and Brian Dallimore three.

Lamar earlier in the day eliminated host Wichita State, 4-1.

Stanford’s Eric Sees had the game-winning hit in the nightcap against Texas Tech, which beat Stanford, 3-1, on Sunday.

Miami will make its 14th trip to the World Series after defeating Texas A&M;, 5-2, in the championship game of the Atlantic II Regional at Coral Gabels, Fla.

A&M; forced a second game with a 4-0 victory over Miami earlier in the day, ending the Hurricanes’ 10-game regional home winning streak.
