TARZANA : 3 Assailants Sought in Robbery, Knifing

Los Angeles police Thursday asked for the public’s help in locating three men who robbed a 21-year-old woman under the Ventura Freeway, beating her and slashing her arms to the bone.

The woman was walking along Reseda Boulevard in Tarzana about 4 p.m. Monday when a green late-model car pulled up and three men jumped out, LAPD Detective Ken Debie said. The men demanded that she give up her purse, and when the woman refused, they punched her in the face, Debie said.

The men repeated their demands, and one pulled out a knife, Debie said. As the woman threw up her hands to protect her face from the blade, the knife-wielding robber sliced into her forearms, cutting them to the bone, Debie said.

The robbers then pushed the woman’s head against a freeway pillar, and she was knocked out. They took her jewelry and purse and drove off as a pedestrian saw her and took her to Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Debie said the woman’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Police have no witnesses to the attack. “This happened on Memorial Day, in broad daylight,” Debie said. “You can’t tell me that somebody didn’t see something.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call LAPD West Valley detectives at (818) 756-8546 or (818) 756-8542.
