A 22-year-old Ventura man was shot in the leg Saturday in Thousand Oaks in an apparent case of attempted murder, authorities said.
Andrew Vincent Ramirez was in good condition at Los Robles Regional Medical Center where he was admitted for a gunshot wound just above the knee, authorities said.
Ramirez, who had spent the night at a friend’s house in the 900 block of Calle Margarita, was shot by a man who had called to him from a car parked in front of the residence, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.
The incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. and there were no witnesses, Sgt. Will Howe said. Ramirez told authorities he heard someone outside the house calling for him, walked outside and saw a gray four-door vehicle parked on the street.
He said he approached the vehicle and was about five feet from it when a man opened the rear passenger door, pointed a gun and shot him, authorities said. The suspect then left the area.
An investigation was continuing.
